Kate Liu-Bevan
Principal Adviser

I work in close partnership with leaders who are navigating complexity, growth, and change. My role is to help them think clearly, challenge what may be holding them back, and move forward with greater impact, both for themselves and their organisations.

My perspective comes from an unconventional journey. I grew up in rural China in a farming community, and have since lived and worked across multiple countries and industries. That experience has shaped how I see leadership, grounded, practical, and deeply aware of the human realities behind performance and decision-making.

I began my career in retail and food manufacturing with global organisations, moving into senior roles across fast-growing Asian markets. I later moved to the UK and worked in strategy consulting, M&A, and business restructuring, leading global projects and teams in demanding environments.

Over time, I became more interested in what sits beneath strategy, how leaders think, where they get stuck, and how they show up under pressure. That curiosity led me to focus on leadership advisory and coaching.

For the past seven years, I’ve worked with leaders across sectors including Professional Services, Technology Consulting, Travel & Leisure, Industrial, and Financial Services. I support them through moments that matter, whether that’s stepping into bigger roles, leading through uncertainty, or navigating complex organisational change.

I don’t believe there are simple answers in leadership. But I do believe that with the right level of challenge, reflection, and support, leaders can find clearer ways forward that are both effective and authentic.

I am based in London and work globally.

I love the uniqueness of people and the complexity of human relationships - especially in the context of delivering business strategy. My role is to bring the challenge, reflection and support that helps leaders turn complexity into clarity - and find a way forward that's both commercially effective and true to who they are.

Commerce was a feature of my childhood - I grew up around both my grandparents' and my father's businesses. I became a Chartered Accountant, like my father, intending to run a business myself. Instead, I loved the profession - and the opportunities it gave me - so much that I stayed, fulfilling CEO, C-Suite and Board roles for over 20 years.

In 2015 I qualified as a coach and began a new chapter, alongside governance and partner life-cycle work.

My client experience spans the core accounting firm services - audit, tax and advisory - across many sectors, particularly professional services, consumer and real estate. I've been a member of the Association of Partnership Practitioners for over two decades, and a former Chair.

Since 2005, my Board roles have been largely non-executive - often Chair or Audit and Risk Chair, with experience across Nominations, Remuneration, Governance and Investment committees. I've helped businesses transition to Private Equity ownership.

I've always been drawn to the people side of business - keen to help individuals, teams and organisations be most effective in delivering strategy. I believe culture is key, and that empowered governance is crucial to ensuring the right decisions are made at every point, formal and informal.
